WHY WE’RE EXCITED ABOUT THIS WINE

Simply put, Pet-Nats are my new favorite wines to hunt down and are quickly becoming one of the next big wine trends. Just about everyone loves a nice bottle of bubbles, with Pet-Nat wines you get delicious bubbles without sacrificing fun and funky flavors that you may have not experienced in a wine before.

Generally known as pet-nat, these naturally sparkling wines are the genetic sibling of traditional Champagne where the wine achieves its primary fermentation in the bottle, catching carbon dioxide and a sediment of yeast lees. This winemaking style produces a simpler, more rustic sparkling wine than Champagne. Where Champagne is typically crystal clear, pet-nats can sometimes be as clear as mud. The wines are typically unfined and unfiltered and deliver delicious and sometimes unusual flavor profiles.

These wines and particularly this wine are incredibly versatile and pet-nats can be made from just about any varietal, meaning whatever the occasion, there is very likely a pet-nat for it. Seeing how these Australian winemakers transformed ancient Italian varietals to taste like this is truly a unique experience. Turning big-bold reds into fresh and juicy bubbles is no small feat, enjoy this wine treat with friends and find out why the wine world loves this "crushable" style.
