THE JEFFERSON CLUB - January 2021
Domaine Jacquesson holds vineyards in Champagne's Grande Valle de la Marne and Cote des Blancs which include some Grand Cru and Premier Cru blocks. Brothers Jean-Herve and Laurent Chiquet have managed the domaine since 1988 with great care. Some people say that the Jacquesson style is nothing more than the taste of the Chiquet brothers. And they would not be wrong!

Why I am excited about this wine
The Chiquet brothers aim to make the best cuvee each year. Each numbered cuvee is based on a new “vintage.” The bulk of each cuvee is a mixture of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Meunier primarily from the base year with some reserve wines blended in. Additionally, beginning in 2009, they withdrew the production of their prestige cuvee, their top wine, in order to ensure that each numbered cuvee is the true best expression they can offer. This is a huge divergence from the standing traditions of Champagne with an emphasis on terroir character over a house style. You will not find more transcendental wines from Champagne!
