Southern France is often heralded for its gorgeous weather and beaches, but they also make some fabulous wines. This month we feature two wines from a region of France that is regarded as one of the most beautiful in the world, Languedoc-Roussillon.
We return to one of the first producers that inspired me to develop the Discover Club, Alois Lageder. Alois Lageder is a 6th generation wine estate in Alto Adige, Italy. “Clemens,” the 6th generation, is the one who pushed their family estate towards biodynamics. After an exceptional tasting with him, I asked what his favorite project was. His answer involved several wines, but the “Comets” series was at the top of that list. This month, I’m happy to introduce you to Alois Lageder “SOA XX.”
This quarter, for the 20th Anniversary of Compass Box, we explore their signature whisky, Hedonism.
What happens when a French barrel hunter crosses two rising stars in the Sherry scene? (And what the h*ll does that have to do with a Scotch Whisky club?) Simple. Amazing things. This month, for Just A Taste’s Dram Club, I am excited to feature Navazos-Palazzi Overseas Malt.
This month, for Just A Taste’s Duke Club, I am excited to feature Four Roses’ Select Small Batch.
This month, for Just A Taste’s Duke Club, I am excited to feature Belle Meade Sour Mash Straight Bourbon.
This month, for Just A Taste’s Dram Club, I am excited to feature Clan Denny Port Dundas 14 yr.
As we move into fall, I find myself steering away from highballs or cocktails towards straight drams of spicy, smoky whiskey. Whether it is Scotch, Bourbon, or any other spirit, I enjoy accentuated notes of fire-charred oak. So, when selecting a new pour for the Duke Club, I first thought was to return to straight bourbon.
This month, for Just A Taste’s Dram Club, I am excited to feature Douglas Laing’s Old Particular “Mortlach 11 year.”
