1.5 oz Knob Creek Rye
.75 oz Cocchi di Torino Vermouth
4-6 Dashes of Angostura bitters
1 Boozy Cherry

HOW TO MAKE IT
Step One | Add all of the above ingredients into a mixing glass
Step Two | Fill the glass with ice + stir
Step Three | Strain your chilled cocktail into a martini or coupe glass
*extra points if you have a julep strainer*
Step Four | Garnish with a boozy cherry

WHY DO WE STIR?

The Manhattan is meant to be an elegant, heavy sipper. Stirring the cocktail properly allows for the correct amount of dilution, giving the super-chilled, silky texture we’re looking for.

ABOUT THE MANHATTAN

This classic cocktail was invented at the Manhattan Club in the late 1880s. The Manhattan club was a treasure trove of old rye whiskies, unlike the ones of today. The original recipe called for equal parts rye and vermouth - yielding a much mellower product than what we most enjoy today. There are scores of rye whiskies out there: some spicy, some fruity, some more woody. Really, the possibilities are endless.

ABOUT OUR MANHATTAN

For our Manhattan, we prefer to use Knob Creek because 1) it’s affordable and 2) it has just the right amount of spicy character.

The Cocchi di Torino vermouth is a classic, herbal, earthy, and bitter vermouth - this lends to sweetening and balancing the spicy and oak from the rye.

The bitters are there to alter that balance: a little less, and you end up with a slightly sweeter cocktail; a little more (like we like it) and you have a bite-y, spicy drink that always satisfies.
